Trapped oriental white stork saved from 53-meter-high steel wire

A video featuring a Chinese electrical technician from East China's Jiangsu Province successfully rescuing an injured oriental white stork that became entangled in steel wire as high as 53 meters recently has been widely circulated on Chinese social media. 

The oriental white stork was spotted trapped within the steel wire next to an electricity tower, with its two legs caught on the steel wire and headfirst hanging in the air.

The electrical technician from Jiangsu's Yancheng climbed the tower, stood on the steel wire with his one leg and gently removed the beautiful animal from the wire. He then wrapped up the hurt oriental white stork into a bag and carried it back to the ground.

Many netizens commended the courage of the technician in rescuing the animal from such a high tower, with some praising him as being a caring man.

The injured stork was then transferred to a local bird aid center to receive medical treatment.

The oriental white stork is a first-class national protected animal, known as "a nationally treasured bird."
