The Chinese live performance industry has recovered since the Spring Festival. The period after the Spring Festival is usually an off season for the performance market, but now a variety of offline performances are being held in different places. Sales of performance tickets surpassed 3 million yuan ($434,500) during the Spring Festival holiday. Industry insiders predict the total number of large-scale performances in 2023, including music festivals, might surpass that of pre-pandemic 2019.

Chinese filmmakers say sports films need support from different sides. Among all the sports films released in the Chinese mainland, the Indian movie Dangal has earned the highest in box office, while Leap, a 2020 biographical sports film directed by Peter Chan, is the highest-earning sports film by a Chinese filmmaker.

Sports are highly professional, so sports films are more difficult to make than films in other genres. At the same time, there is a lot of room for sports films to explore when it comes to writing characters and stories. To make high-quality and successful sports films, support is needed from all levels, including actors, producers and government authorities.
