The lavish Shinbyu novitiation ceremony was held in Dala township of Myanmar's Yangon on Sunday, as young boys, who dressed up as Buddha princes, rode on horses and were paraded by their entourage on their way to the monastery.

Shinbyu, the Burmese term for novitiation ceremony, is the essential monastic ordination of male Myanmar Buddhists under the age of 20 to prepare for their full ordination as monks.
