China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday held a new round of meetings with the country's major manufacturing enterprises, aiming to further boost the sector's high-quality development, the ministry said on Tuesday.

Jin Zhuanglong, minister of the MIIT, hosted the meeting, attended by representatives from the GAC Group, CATL, Trina Solar Co, Sany Group, Juhua Group and other seven enterprises spanning sectors including new-energy vehicles (NEVs), lithium batteries, photovoltaic products, biomedicine and new materials.

During the meeting, representatives discussed the businesses environment, exchanged views on the development of the manufacturing sector. Jin pledged that the MIIT will further improve communication with enterprises, and take more measures to improve business environment in order to promote investment and innovation.

Jin noted that the leading role of major manufacturing enterprises is to help bolster the country's overall economy, and encouraged them to further open-up to international market and enhancing innovation.

China's official manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) remained in contraction territory at 49.3 in July, up 0.3 percentage points from June, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on July 31, reflecting the growing resilience and vitality of China's industrial sector.
