Recently, a nationwide super-large intelligent raw material conveyor corridor controlled by electric robots was put into operation in Changzhou city, Jiangsu Province. The State Grid Changzhou Electric Power Supply Company sent a dedicated service team to inspect the 110 kV mine substation at the client's request.

The 22.4-kilometer-long corridor, with a total investment of 3.28 billion yuan, is one of the key projects in Jiangsu Province. By replacing the original 500 fuel trucks with belt conveyors, it moves up to 50 million tons of fuel per year with 3.3 million fewer road trips, 4,392 fewer tons of diesel fuel consumed, and 13,500 fewer tons of carbon emissions. Meanwhile, a 30 MW distributed photovoltaic (PV) power station has been built with 60,340 PV modules installed on the top of the corridor and curved roof sheds, as advised by the local power supply department. Annually, it generates 35 million kWh of green electricity and helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 26,000 tons.

In response to the client's needs, State Grid Changzhou Electric Power Supply Company developed a scientifically sound and flexible solution to provide sufficient power support for the operation of the corridor. Specifically, it upgraded the 220 kV Mugang substation in the shortest possible time by swiftly deploying a 180 MVA main transformer. Going forward, with the construction of the new power system, the local power supply department will further explore the application of new technologies in the corridor, including customer-side energy storage and demand-side response system, thus aiding in the achievement of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals for the country.
