The Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Beijing has been honored to take over the baton from the Philippine Embassy in Beijing and serve as the rotating chairman of the ASEAN Ladies Circle (ALC) from March to August of 2024.

Over 40 guests from ASEAN embassies in Beijing took part in a recent handover ceremony that saw Ana Elena S. FlorCruz, spouse of Philippine Ambassador Jaime A. FlorCruz turn over the chairmanship to Sim Siew Eng, spouse of the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Peter Tan Hai Chuan.

The ALC plays an important role in Beijing, fostering friendship among female diplomats and diplomatic spouses from ASEAN embassies in Beijing. It also deepens understanding and knowledge of the traditions and cultures of each member country through various exchange activities. Its chairmanship rotates alphabetically among ASEAN embassies.

As the new rotating chairman, the Singaporean embassy is committed to providing secretarial and administrative support services to the ASEAN embassies in China. Singapore looks forward to further deepening friendships, enhancing exchanges, and making the voice of ASEAN heard louder.
