The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Wednesday announced that another 25 enterprises signed agreement with the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises to settle in the city, showing confidence in the HKSAR's development potential.

HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee said at the signing ceremony that "Hong Kong is the only city in the world that converges both the China advantage and the global advantage, under the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle."

"Given our long-standing strengths in finance, intellectual property protection and connectivity, Hong Kong can enable technology transfers, attract foreign investment and create the cross-boundary collaborations that drive innovation and technology," Lee said.

"Confidence is much more important than gold. Hong Kong's role as a global financial hub and a super connector will be further consolidated with more funds, organizations and talent entering the city," Liang Haiming, an expert on the Hong Kong economy and chairman of the China Silk Road iValley Research Institute, told the Global Times on Wednesday.

"It will bring Hong Kong more than HK$40 billion ($5.56 billion) in investment and about 13,000 local jobs in several years," said Lee.

As a vital phase of China's plan for developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), Hong Kong is stepping onto a new growth level benefiting from its globalized features, Cong Yi, a professor with the Tianjin Administrative Institute, told the Global Times on Wednesday.

The economic aggregate of the GBA has surpassed 13 trillion yuan ($1.8 trillion), as its patent ability leads among global four bay areas, said Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the Second Session of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee in March.

Liu noted that the area is accelerating its economic integration and coordination with surrounding regions as the area has become one of the most promising growth poles of the world.
