Russian President Vladimir Putin is paying a state visit to China from May 16 to 17, with analysts from the two countries saying that the visit has strategic significance for not only the two major powers, but also the world amid turbulence and profound changes. In an exclusive interview with the Global Times, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui emphasized that the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era between China and Russia is currently in its best historical period.

China's Ministry of Commerce urged the US to immediately cancel the additional tariffs on Chinese products and vowed to take resolute measure to defend its rights over the US' announcement to increase tariffs on Chinese products, including electric vehicles.

The Global Times noted from publicly available information that a Filipino non-governmental organization called Atin Ito, or "This is ours," is, in fact, a "hired gun" fed by the US and long sponsored by US organizations. Atin Ito has continuously stirred up trouble in the South China Sea and has been exerting its influence in the Philippine government's decision-making on the issue.

Participating in the show Ride the Wind 2024, with her interpretation of the song "Les Champs-Élysées" in both French and Chinese, French chanteuse Joyce Jonathan helps the audience from her second home - China – learn about the poetic and romantic genre from France.
