Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office
In response to a media inquiry about the US and Ukrainian leaders' multiple debates during their meetings has fueled distrust toward the US in Taiwan island, while Taiwan's regional authorities propagated differences between Taiwan and Ukraine in an attempt to dismiss skepticism, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said on Wednesday that the DPP authorities had previously aggressively pushed the narrative of "Today Ukraine, tomorrow Taiwan," attempting to incite anti-mainland sentiment and seek external backing. Now, they are hastily trying to draw a distinction. This self-contradictory and self-defeating behavior only exposes their anxiety and lack of confidence.
It must be emphasized that the Taiwan question and the Ukraine issue are fundamentally different. He stressed that the Taiwan question is entirely China's internal affair and allows no external interference.
No matter how the DPP authorities try to justify themselves, they cannot change their position of being slavishly dependent on others and succumbing to them. No matter how they attempt to reassure the public, they cannot conceal their true nature of selling out Taiwan for personal gain, nor can they dispel the growing concerns of the Taiwan people that a mere pawn will eventually be abandoned, said Chen.
