As part of the Chengdu Europe Cultural Season, the Consulate General of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Chongqing and the Foreign Affairs Office of Chengdu Municipal People's Government jointly staged a theatrical performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province, on April 22.

At least 400 audiences enjoyed the performance. The event is one in a slew of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Chongqing.

The UK and Chengdu have established strong ties in many areas, including education, business, innovation and culture, and "we look forward to continuing our friendship in the years to come," said Jagdeep Uberoi, political and economic consul in his remarks.

The performance was presented by the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival.
