In response to a question about whether China agrees it's up to China to de-escalate the situation, after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claimed on Monday that "it's up to China to de-escalate, because they sell five times more to us than we sell to them" and that "these 125 percent tariffs are unsustainable," Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, said that China has repeatedly made it clear that there are no winners in tariff and trade wars.

The tariff war was initiated by the US, if the US wants to solve the problem through dialogue and negotiation, it should stop threatening and pressuring, and instead engage with China on the basis of equality, respect, and mutual benefit, the spokesperson noted.
