When asked whether he could share more details on the next stage of China-US trade talks - specifically what issues would be discussed and what negotiations related to fentanyl issues are planned - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a press briefing on Tuesday that China's related authorities had already released information regarding high-level economic and trade consultations with the US.
As for fentanyl, China has stated multiple times that fentanyl is the US' problem, not China's. The responsibility to solve it lies with the US itself. Despite the goodwill China has shown, the US slapped tariffs on Chinese imports at the pretext of the fentanyl issue. Such actions have severely undermined bilateral cooperation on counternarcotics and harmed China's legitimate interests.
"If the US is truly sincere about working with China, it should stop smearing and shifting blame onto China. Dialogue must be based on mutual respect, equality, and reciprocity," Lin said.
