May 22 marks the International Day for Biological Diversity. China’s efforts to retore rare and endangered wildlife include:
- 200+ species of rare and endangered wild animals in China have entered a phase of restorative growth, and 100+ endangered wild plant species received rescue protection;
- Over 70 percent of the wild giant panda population has been effectively protected;
- The number of Tibetan antelopes has recovered from fewer than 20,000 in the early 1980s to more than 70,000.
