Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Ding Xuexiang met in Beijing on Tuesday with foreign delegates attending the meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Ding said that as 2024 marks the "Year of China" in the SCO, China is ready to take this opportunity to work with all parties to prioritize development, strengthen financial cooperation, expand the use of local currencies in settlement, promote inclusive digital finance, and advance the establishment of an SCO development bank to inject strong momentum into regional development, according to Xinhua.

During the meeting, Secretary-General of SCO Nurlan Yermekbayev, speaking on behalf of the foreign delegates, highly commended China's efforts as the rotating chair of the organization, and expressed readiness to work with China to uphold the "Shanghai Spirit" and jointly promote regional prosperity and development, per Xinhua.
