US President Donald Trump on Saturday said there would be "serious consequences" if tech mogul Elon Musk funds Democratic candidates to run against Republicans who vote in favor of the GOP's sweeping budget bill, NBC News reported.

"If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that," Trump told NBC News in a phone interview, but declined to share what those consequences would be.

The president also said he has no desire to repair his relationship with Musk after a feud between the two men erupted into public view earlier this week.

"No," Trump said when asked if he had any wish to do so, NBC News reported

Asked if he thought his relationship with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO was over, Trump said, "I would assume so, yeah."

Trump said he has no plans to speak with Musk anytime soon. "I'm too busy doing other things," he said, adding, "I have no intention of speaking to him," NBC News reported.

For weeks, Musk had been criticizing Trump's signature legislation - dubbed the "Big Beautiful Bill" - as it made its way through Congress, BBC reported.

Musk said that, if passed, the bill would add trillions of dollars to the national deficit and "undermine" the work he did as the head of Doge, the Department of Government Efficiency, and its efforts to cut government spending, according to BBC.

Shortly after leaving Doge after 129 days in the job, Musk posted on his social media site X that the bill was a "disgusting abomination", according to BBC.

On Thursday, however, Trump told reporters he was "disappointed" with Musk's behavior.

Asked how serious he was about cancelling government contracts with Musk in light of their feud, Trump told reporters that he was going to "take a look at everything." But he also said that he wasn't thinking about Musk because he was busy running the country. "Honestly, I've been so busy working on China, working on Russia, working on Iran, working on so many things, I'm not thinking about Elon Musk. I just wish him well," Trump said, according to ABC News.
