In response to a media question about China's expectations for the World Economic Forum's 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, Chinese Foreign Ministry (FM) spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that the forum, which has been successfully held 15 times, has become a crucial platform for enhancing exchanges between China and the rest of the world and for advancing practical cooperation.

Premier of the State Council Li Qiang will attend the forum in Tianjin from June 24 to 25. Premier Li will attend the Opening Plenary and deliver a special address, meet with foreign guests, and have a conversation with representatives of the foreign business community, according to a FM announcement on Monday.

Against the current backdrop of lackluster global growth and escalating unilateralism and trade protectionism, which have severely destabilized the multilateral trading system, this year's forum has attracted its highest number of participants in recent years, Guo noted. This clearly demonstrates the international community's shared desire to uphold economic globalization and the rules-based free trade system, as well as its strong interest in deepening economic and trade cooperation with China, according to Guo.

"We look forward to working with all participating delegates to inject more stability and certainty into the world economy," Guo added.
