Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang on Wednesday lauded China-made electric vehicles (EVs), calling them "incredible", and said he would love to buy a Xiaomi car.
"The electric vehicles (EVs) in China are incredible. Would you guys all agree?" Huang said at a press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.
"I saw Lei Jun the other day and he showed me his new car. The technology is incredible. The styling is beautiful. The quality of work is extraordinary. The technology inside is the best in the world," Huang said.
When asked whether he would buy one, Huang said, "I would love to. I would love to."
"It's unfortunately not available in the US, but that's our misfortune, not yours," Huang said.
In response to a media question on whether there is any new product or company that surprises him in China, Huang said "I would say that the EVs in China are probably in the last 5 years, the most surprising to the world in terms of the advancement."
The reality is, Xiaomi's cars are outstanding, as are BYD's and Li Auto's. The cabins are so spacious they feel like living rooms on wheels, while NIO and Zeekr take luxury to an entirely new level - every one of them impresses me, according to Huang.
Huang is in Beijing for his third China visit in 2025.
The comments came after a report posted on the WeChat account of domestic media outlet chinanews.com on Monday contained two photos of Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang and Lei Jun, chairman of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, reportedly taken in Beijing.
One image captured the pair smiling in front of a traditional Chinese-style building, while in the other, they were standing beside a Xiaomi car, flashing thumbs-up at the camera, according to the report on the WeChat account of chinanews.com.
