China's second domestically built large cruise ship, the Adora Flora City, has entered  equipment debugging and system functionality verification phase with the first of its five high-capacity power generators put into operation on Tuesday, according to China Media Group (CMG).

The main generator is a core component of the cruise ship, akin to the "heart" of the vessel. It serves as the primary power source for the ship's electrical distribution and propulsion systems. The start of power generation on Tuesday indicates that over 300 connected devices are completed.

The ship, built by the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co under China State Shipbuilding Corporation, is equipped with five generators that supply power to onboard systems.

The generators are independently installed in the fore and aft engine rooms as part of a safety-driven design. Each generator has an output of up to 16.8 megawatts, equivalent to the main engine power of a 100,000-ton cargo ship, according to CMG, citing the shipbuilder.

The ship is scheduled to launch its first international voyage in 2027 from Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port in South China's Guangdong Province.
