The North American premiere of the film
Dead To Rights was held on Wednesday local time.
The film, set against the backdrop of the Nanjing Massacre in 1937 committed by invading Japanese military, has topped the global box office last weekend.
Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the US, and his wife Wang Dan attended the North American premiere of the film
Dead To Rights on Wednesday local time. They watched the film together with overseas Chinese, Chinese students, and other guests, commemorating the 80th anniversary of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, according to a release posted on the official WeChat account of the Chinese Embassy in the US on Thursday.
The ambassador emphasized that forgetting history is a form of betrayal. The Chinese people, through immense perseverance, bravery, and sacrifice, achieved a great victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and made outstanding contributions to the global victory over fascism. Any attempt to distort the truth of World War II will never be accepted by the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people.
The release will open in US and Canadian theaters on August 15, with a streaming rollout planned for later this year, US media outlet Variety reported earlier.
Besides North America, the film is also scheduled to be released in theaters in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and several other regions. Meanwhile, plans for release in countries such as Russia, South Korea, the UK, Germany and France are also underway, as Beijing Daily reported.
