China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA)  rolled out a set of measures on Monday aimed at further enriching television content and boosting audiovisual production, with one provision encouraging outstanding micro-dramas to be broadcast on TV, according to People’s Daily.

Multiple steps will be taken to enhance content creation and expand the supply of high-quality programs. The plan includes the launch of a content renewal initiative to drive innovation, adjustments to regulations on the number of drama episodes and the interval between seasons, improvements to the drama review process to streamline mechanisms and raise efficiency, and efforts to strengthen the production, broadcasting, and promotion of ultra-HD programs, according to the information released on NRTA’s official WeChat account.

The measures also call for greater support for high-quality documentaries and animated works, broadcasting outstanding micro-dramas on TV, and the introduction of high-quality overseas productions. At the same time, the NRTA emphasized strengthening the regulatory framework, including program copyright protection.

The administration will guide and coordinate provincial-level radio and television authorities, TV stations, production companies, online platforms, as well as industry associations. The goal is to bring more high-quality content, wider distribution, and an improved cultural environment to meet the public’s growing demand for cultural enrichment.
