In 1956, Damxung Airport – Xizang's first airport – was completed. In the past 60 years, the number of airports in Xizang has increased from 1 to 8, the number of airlines operating has grown from 1 to 12, and the number of flight routes has expanded from 1 to 193.

Qinghai-Xizang Railway (2006) vs. Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway (2025)
On July 1, 2006, the Qinghai-Xizang Railway went into operation, ending the pre-railways period in Xizang. In 2021, the 435-km-long railway line that links Lhasa and Nyingchi opened, Fuxing bullet trains ran in the plateau region for the first time.
