When asked to confirm reports that China international trade representative Li Chenggang would travel to Washington this week for talks with the US, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian said on Thursday that Li Chenggang, China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce, led a delegation to Canada from August 24 to 27 to co-chair the China-Canada Joint Economic and Trade Committee. Following the visit, Li and his delegation will travel to Washington to meet with relevant US officials, He said.

China is willing to work with the US to continuously make good use of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, resolve issues through dialogue and consultation on the basis of equality, and jointly safeguard the sound, stable, and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations, He added.
