Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Tuesday that China and Russia, based on the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit, have conducted practical cooperation in various fields, including energy.

The comments came as he was asked to confirm report that China and Russia have reached an agreement on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cooperation project called Power of Siberia, which will allow Russia's Gazprom PJSC to transport 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China via Mongolia,

"Regarding the specific issues, the spokesperson suggested to consult the competent Chinese authorities," Guo added.

According to a Bloomberg report on Tuesday, Russia's Gazprom PJSC said it signed a legally binding agreement to build the long-anticipated Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline to China via Mongolia and would expand deliveries through other routes.
