The 24th meeting of ministers of economic affairs and trade of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held on Saturday in Vladivostok, Russia, with member states agreeing to strengthen regional economic integration and reaffirming their commitment to a multilateral trading system and closer cooperation on global supply chains, China's commerce ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
Vice minister of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) Yan Dong attended the meeting, the statement noted.
The session focused on implementing the key consensus reached during the 25th meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State and resulted in the issuance of a joint statement by the ministers outlining measures to promote sustainable economic growth within the organization, per the statement.
The meeting also adopted an implementation plan for the framework of cooperation on creative economies among SCO member states and laid the groundwork for further regional economic collaboration, thereby preparing the economic and trade agenda for the upcoming Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO.
Yan said that China is ready to work with all parties to translate the important consensus reached by leaders during the SCO Tianjin Summit into concrete actions. He emphasized adherence to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, enhanced policy coordination, and continued implementation of the action plan for high-quality economic and trade cooperation between China and other SCO nations, per the statement.
Yan further expressed China's commitment to working with other member states to safeguard the multilateral trading system, deepen international cooperation on industrial and supply chains, promote integrated development of trade and investment, enhance connectivity, improve cooperation frameworks, and boost the coordinated development of trade in goods, services, and digital trade, thereby elevating regional economic cooperation within the SCO to new heights, the statement said.
According to MOFCOM, all participants spoke highly of the important outcomes achieved at the SCO Tianjin Summit and unanimously agreed to continue expanding intra-regional trade and investment, promote trade in services such as creative economies, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in e-commerce, and comprehensively deepen practical cooperation across various fields.
