Asked about further information, after China and the US announced that the two sides will hold talks in Spain on September 14 and will discuss the TikTok issue, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Friday that China's position on the TikTok issue is clear and consistent, and China is determined to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its domestic companies and will review the TikTok issue in accordance with the law and regulation.

"The Chinese government attaches great importance to data privacy and security, and has never and will never require companies or individuals to collect or provide data located in foreign countries for the Chinese government in violation of local laws," the spokesperson said.

Recently, upon mutual agreement, Chinese and US teams will hold talks on issues including TikTok. China urges the US to work with the Chinese side to address their respective concerns and find solutions to problems through dialogue on the basis of mutual respect and equal consultation, and provide an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment for the continued operations of Chinese companies, including TikTok, in the US, thereby promoting the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade relations, the MOFCOM spokesperson said.
