The 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum hosted a welcoming banquet on Wednesday evening to greet Chinese and foreign participants. Zhang Youxia, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), attended and delivered a speech.

Zhang noted that the Global Governance Initiative points the way forward and provides strategic guidance for reforming and improving the global governance system. Zhang expressed the sincere hope that all participants would uphold the original aspiration of peaceful coexistence, strengthen confidence in win-win cooperation, and make good use of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum as a platform to discuss "safeguarding international order and promoting peace and development."

Zhang called for tightening bonds of friendship, engaging in equal dialogue and consultation, exploring major security issues, and defending common interests, so as to make new and greater contributions to lasting world peace and universal security.

Zhang noted that adhering to peaceful development is a defining feature and inevitable choice of advancing national rejuvenation and building a strong country through Chinese modernization. He said that the grand military parade recently held to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War once again declared to the world that the strength of China's military represents the growth of the world's force for peace, and once again delivered a strong message that justice will prevail, peace will prevail, and the people will prevail.

He added that on the new journey in the new era, the Chinese military will continue to work with all parties to deepen and expand military exchanges and cooperation across various fields and levels, and to meet new threats and challenges through greater unity and coordination, injecting more stability into a turbulent and changing world.

Member of China's CMC and Chief of Staff of the CMC Joint Staff Department, Liu Zhenli, as well as Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun, also attended the banquet.

Dong met in Beijing on Wednesday with senior military officials from Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Namibia, Rwanda, and Senegal, who were in China to attend the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.

Dong also extended a warm welcome to all participants of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum. He noted that through extensive consultation and consensus-building, efforts are being pooled to safeguard the international order and promote peace and development.

The Chinese military stands ready to carry forward traditional friendships, enhance strategic communication, conduct higher-level security cooperation, and work together to address risks and challenges, providing strong support for global governance and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, said Dong.
