China's economy has been on an upward trajectory with further opening-up, and it will provide broad development opportunities for companies from all countries, including Finland, said Ling Ji, vice minister of commerce and deputy China international trade representative, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on Friday.
The remarks were made when Ling met with Jarno Syrjälä, deputy minister for international trade of the Republic of Finland, they when co-chaired the 25th session of China-Finland Joint Committee on Trade and Economy in Helsinki, Finland.
Ling said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Finland. In recent years, with the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Finland economic cooperation and trade has been making new and sound progress, and the future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership is full of vitality.

He called on the two sides to give full play to the role of the China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation and actively expand cooperation in such areas as clean energy technology, circular economy, health technology, information technology and artificial intelligence.
China encourages capable Chinese companies to invest in Finland and hopes that Finland will provide a fair, open and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies, Ling noted, adding that China stands ready to work with Finland to stay true to the original aspirations for bilateral relations, deepen policy communication, and jointly uphold the multilateral trading system with the WTO at its core.
Syrjälä said that China is one of Finland's most important economic and trade partners, and the Finnish government is committed to free trade, supports the multilateral trading system, and welcomes Chinese companies to invest in Finland, according to a statement from the MOFCOM.
Finland supports Finnish companies in developing their business in the Chinese market, and hopes that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in such areas as sustainable development, agricultural and food products, and health and medical care to further consolidate and deepen Finland-China economic and trade relations, he added, per the MOFCOM statement.
