A spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, stated Wednesday that the so-called "Republic of China (Taiwan)" does not exist at all. History, legal principles, and facts all prove that the two sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to one China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, the spokesperson added, in response to a Taiwan regional official who claimed that the Chinese mainland should face the so-called "fact of the existence of the Republic of China (Taiwan)."

At a press conference of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office on Wednesday, a journalist said that during his unauthorized visit to the US, Taiwan regional official Chiu Chui-cheng made the above claims. Qiu also claimed that the mainland should abandon "military coercion and united front infiltration against Taiwan," and choose a path of "equality, goodwill, peace, dialogue, and mutual benefit" to handle cross-Straits relations and engage in dialogue. Qiu also claimed that the island of Taiwan's strategic importance is closely linked to US interests. Regarding Qiu's claims, the journalist asked for spokesperson Chen Binhua's comments.

Chen, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, emphasized that the so-called "Republic of China (Taiwan)" does not exist at all. History, legal principles, and facts all prove that the two sides of the Straits belong to one China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. The DPP authorities' persistent adherence to their separatist stance of "Taiwan independence" and continuous collusion with external forces to pursue "independence" and provoke confrontation are the root cause of tension and instability in the Taiwan Straits.

Their false narratives, such as the "mainland threat" and "democracy versus authoritarianism," are nothing but a complete distortion of the truth. Their call for "equal dialogue" is an attempt to resume cross-straits dialogue and consultations without recognizing the 1992 Consensus, which is utterly ill-intentioned and pure fantasy, Chen stated.

The 1992 Consensus, which embodies the one-China principle, is the political foundation for cross-straits dialogue and consultation. While claiming willingness to engage in dialogue, the DPP authorities vigorously promote the fallacy of "Taiwan independence." This self-contradictory approach reveals their complete lack of sincerity in resuming cross-straits dialogue and consultation. It is merely a pretense aimed at deceiving the people of the island of Taiwan. By relying on external forces to seek independence, the DPP authorities blindly cater to US interests, aligning themselves without principles and selling out Taiwan's interests without any bottom line. Their actions are pathetic and shameful, Chen said.

The spokesperson emphasized that "Taiwan independence" is a dead end, and reunification is an unstoppable historical trend. The DPP authorities' attempts to seek independence through armed means or by relying on external forces run counter to the mainstream public opinion in the island of Taiwan and betray the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation. They will not succeed and are doomed to fail, said Chen.
