In response to a media inquiry regarding the fact that 157 UN member states have recognized the Palestinian state, while more than 30 countries, including the US, Israel, Japan and Germany, have not, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Wednesday that the increasing number of countries recognizing Palestine fully reflects the mainstream will and common aspiration of the international community. 

The Palestinian question remains at the core of the Middle East issue, and the “two-state solution” is the only realistic path to resolve the Palestinian question. China will continue to work with the international community to firmly support the Palestinian people in achieving independent statehood and make unremitting efforts for a comprehensive, just and lasting resolution of the Palestinian question as soon as possible, said Guo.
