A video of a Chinese man rescuing two Russian fishermen who had fallen into the water in Russia went viral online recently.
Netizens unanimously praised the Chinese man for his bravery. Later, the rescuer, surnamed Wang, told reporters that the two Russian fishermen were in good health, and the capsized speedboat has been salvaged. After the incident, the two thanked Wang and invited him to go crab fishing together.
Wang is 45 years old and from Hegang, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. A fishing blogger, he spends about six months each year in Russia for sea fishing. He arrived in Sakhalin about a week ago to begin a new fishing season.
When Wang reached a large lake located just 100 meters from the sea, he encountered two Russian fishermen driving a speedboat. . About five or six minutes later, he looked back and saw the boat had capsized, with both men clinging to its edge as the water rose to their necks.
Without hesitation, Wang turned around to rescue them, pulling both onto his boat. One of the fishermen was bleeding from the head, and both were shivering from the cold. Since their phones were soaked and unusable, Wang lent them his phone to contact their friends. Shortly after, their friends arrived, picked up the two fishermen, and salvaged the capsized speedboat.
After the incident, the rescued fishermen thanked Wang and invited him to join them on a crab fishing trip. Wang said, "My first reaction was to save them. Because I spend a lot of time outdoors, I know how cold the lake water is and how quickly hypothermia can set in. So my first thought was to get them out of the water."
