In response to a media inquiry on that the Taiwan island is reportedly planning to build an air defense system called the "T-Dome," Chinese Foreign Ministry Guo Jiakun said on Friday that Lai Ching-te authorities are attempting to seek "independence" through military means and resist reunification by force, which will only drag Taiwan island into the peril of war and disaster. To safeguard peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits, the one-China principle must be upheld, and "Taiwan independence" must be firmly opposed. 

China's position of resolute opposition to US arms sales to Taiwan island and military ties between the US and the island is consistent and clear, said Guo.
