In response to a media inquiry regarding reports that Taiwan island's first "domestically built" submarine, the Hai Kun, has encountered construction difficulties and may not be delivered on schedule, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin said on Friday that the DPP authorities, ignoring the safety and well-being of the people of Taiwan island, are recklessly pursuing "independence" through military means, wasting Taiwan residents' hard-earned money and leading Taiwan island further down a path of harm and destruction. 

"Taiwan independence" forces are overestimating their abilities by spending huge sums to piece together a so-called "domestically built submarine", and they are no match for the PLA and will only lead to self-destruction, Jiang said.
