In response to a question about Chinese Premier Li Qiang's visit to Singapore, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that Premier Li paid a successful official visit to Singapore from October 25 to 26. During the visit, Li met with Singapore Acting President Eddie Teo and held talks with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. He also attended the China-Singapore Business Dialogue together with Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong.
Guo said the visit yielded fruitful results and was of great significance in enriching and advancing the all-round, high-quality, and forward-looking partnership between China and Singapore.
Guo said that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to all-round cooperation and deepened political mutual trust. Marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties, China and Singapore pledged to follow the strategic guidance of their leaders, uphold the spirit of their founding partnership, and advance relations with greater depth and substance. The Singaporean side reiterated its adherence to the one-China principle and firm opposition to "Taiwan independence."
Both sides are committed to advancing high-quality cooperation for mutual benefit. The two countries will further strengthen key projects such as the Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Eco-city. Their cooperation will continue to upgrade — from complementary advantages to joint innovation, from bilateral to trilateral collaboration, and from participating in global value chains to jointly shaping international rules, according to Guo.
Both sides set their sights on a forward-looking partnership and agreed to strengthen strategic alignment. Premier Li noted that the proposals for China's 15th Five-Year Plan, adopted at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, present new opportunities for future China-Singapore cooperation. Singapore congratulated China on the successful session and expressed hope that the 15th Five-Year Plan will benefit the region and the world. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to upholding multilateralism and free trade, viewing each other's development as an opportunity, Guo said.
China stands ready to work with Singapore in a spirit of mutual respect, trust and openness to share prosperity and jointly contribute to regional peace, stability and development, according to Guo.
