In response to a media inquiry regarding China's stance in the upcoming talks between EU and Chinese representatives in Brussels to discuss rare earth-related issues, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at the regular conference on Tuesday that that China-EU economic and trade relations are by nature complementary and mutually beneficial. The Chinese side hopes that the EU will honor its commitment of supporting free trade and opposing trade protectionism, and avoid frequently resorting to restrictive measures.

Instead, it should adhere to resolving trade differences properly through dialogue and consultation, provide a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for companies of all countries, and take concrete actions to uphold market economy and WTO rules, Guo said.

For specific questions, please refer to the competent Chinese authorities, Guo added.
