Asked by a foreign media inquiry for comment on the contradictory signals from the US, as US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently called China as "an unreliable partner" while just a few days earlier, the US president concluded his meeting with the Chinese leader and spoke highly of it, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday that China maintains a stable policy toward the US and China has always approached and handled China-US relations based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

At the same time, China firmly safeguards its sovereignty, security, and development interests, Mao stressed.

Maintaining the sound and steady growth of China-US relations serves the fundamental interests of both peoples and meets the general expectation of the international community, said Mao.
