China is willing to explore negotiating various economic and trade agreements with the EU, including investment pacts: MOFCOM

In response to media inquiry about recent statements made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his meeting with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in Beijing, indicating that China is willing to negotiate and sign a free trade agreement with the EU, He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), said at the ministry's Thursday press conference that China has noticed that the EU is actively pursuing the negotiating and signing of free trade agreements to diversify its export markets. 

The spokesperson emphasized that China is currently advancing high-level opening-upactively aligning with international high-standard economic and trade rules, and steadily expanding institutional openness.

China and the EU share extensive common interests and enormous potential for cooperation in the fields of economic and trade. China is willing to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU and explore the possibility of negotiating various economic and trade agreements, including an investment agreement, to promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation between China and the EU, the ministry spokesperson said.
