Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (IDCPC), met with US Ambassador to China David Perdue in Beijing on Tuesday, according to a press release on the website of the IDCPC.
Liu noted that the Chinese and US leaders held a phone conversation on Monday. Building on the successful meeting in Busan, South Korea, the exchange further calibrated and energized China-US relations. This also demonstrates the overall stable and positive trend in bilateral relations, Liu said, per the press release.
The CPC maintains exchanges in various forms with both the US Republican and Democratic parties. The IDCPC is willing to follow the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, actively promote communication and dialogue among political parties, think tanks, enterprises, youth, and civil society in both countries, and promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of bilateral relations, Liu said.
Liu also introduced the main achievements of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
Perdue said that, from the US perspective, there is no more important bilateral relationship in the world today than the US-China relationship. Bilateral relations are currently at a crucial historical juncture, and the US is willing to enhance dialogue with China, strengthen cooperation in various fields, address issues of mutual concern, and achieve common prosperity through mutual respect, he said, adding that the US supports more communication and dialogue between the political parties of the two countries, according to the IDCPC press release.
The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, the press release said.
