The Fujian provincial government, in East China, on Tuesday unveiled a package of 12 detailed policies across three major areas to deepen cross-Strait economic, trade and cultural exchanges, including a measure to support Taiwan compatriots in opening Shaxian Delicacies restaurants and accessing funding and professional training.

The package of policies was released at a press conference held by the provincial government on Tuesday, aimed at supporting Fujian's efforts to explore new pathways for cross-Strait integrated development and to build a demonstration zone for such integration.

The new package is the fifth batch of such policies released by Fujian Province.

According to the measure, Taiwan compatriots who open Shaxian Delicacies restaurants on the Taiwan Island will receive unified services from the Shaxian brand management company there, as well as a one-time entrepreneurial subsidy of 5,000 yuan ($708).

In addition, Fujian's Sanming city will offer 200 training positions each year for young talent from the Taiwan Island, covering 14 categories of vocational skills including Shaxian snack-making techniques, Chinese culinary arts, pastry making, tea artistry, short-video production and more, according to the press conference.

Shaxian Delicacies originates in Shaxian county in Sanming, Fujian Province. Featuring palatable foods at reasonable prices, it has evolved from a local street delicacy to a nationwide sensation, with franchise stores spread across the country.

Regarding business, tourism, and cultural exchanges, Fujian will encourage Taiwan compatriots to take part in the upgrading of homestays in Nanping , offer ticket refund insurance for passengers traveling on the Xiamen-Kinmen "mini-three links" ferry route, and support art performers from Taiwan Island in staging cultural shows in Fuzhou city.

Fujian will also step up support for Taiwan Island-funded enterprises, including ensuring land and maritime-use guarantees and encouraging machinery plant project development and providing services related to aquaculture, handicrafts and agricultural products, while facilitating taxation procedures, according to the press briefing.
