Recently, during the supervision of inbound express parcels at Shijiazhuang Airport Customs, officers detected anomalies in the X-ray images of two shipments declared as "T-shirts."
Upon on-site inspection, the packages were found to contain two suspected ivory products, shaped as figurines of the immortals He Xiangu, a fairy girl in the Chinese legend of the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, and the God of Longevity.
After appraisal by a professional institution, both items were confirmed to be products made from modern elephant ivory, with a total weight of 1.47 kilograms. The case has now been transferred to the customs anti-smuggling department for further handling.
