Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said on Wednesday that the Lai Ching-te authorities are an outright "professional Taiwan-seller" and a shameless "fraud syndicate," in response to Lai’s claim in a recent interview with US media that he supports TSMC or Taiwan’s semiconductor sector to move production to the US, Japan and Europe to contribute to global progress and prosperity, and Hsiao Bi-khim’s claim that TSMC’s investment in the US is significant, which could not only expand Taiwan's global influence, but is also an excellent way to contribute to US manufacturing and other sectors.

Asked to comment on the claims, Chen said that clearly, the precious assets accumulated through the hard work of generations of Taiwan compatriots are being plundered and hollowed out, yet they dress it up as “contributing to global prosperity and progress.” Clearly, the interests of Taiwan’s industries, businesses, and ordinary residents are being handed over and sacrificed, yet they take pride in “making a contribution to US manufacturing.” To fawn over the US and sell out Taiwan while still trying to whitewash their actions – this is shamelessness taken to the extreme, Chen said.
