The Taiwan regional authorities' abusive use of "dollar diplomacy" under the guise of "trust" and "prosperity" cannot conceal the true nature of their unscrupulous pursuit of "Taiwan independence," nor can it deceive public opinion or the residents of the island, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday, in response to reports that when asked how Taiwan could maintain its so-called "friendship" with Honduras while "competing" with the Chinese mainland, Lin Chia-lung, head of Taiwan's so-called foreign affairs authorities, claimed that Taiwan builds relationships based on trust and prosperity.

The "Taiwan independence" forces and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are acting against the tide of history and are doomed to fail, Guo said. 

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras, cooperation across various fields has yielded fruitful results, significantly enhanced Honduras' long-term development capacity, and brought great benefits to both countries and their peoples, the spokesperson noted. 

"Facts have fully proven that adhering to the one-China principle is a correct decision that conforms to the general trend of historical development and the trend of progress in the times, and is in line with the fundamental interests of the countries and peoples concerned," Guo said.
