A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) reiterated on Thursday that China has always been committed to maintaining the security and stability of the global industrial and supply chain and actively promoting and facilitating compliant trade.

He Yongqian, a spokesperson for MOFCOM, made the remarks at a regular press conference, when asked about media reports claiming that China is still restricting the exports of some rare-earth elements used for producing rare-earth magnets and whether China will loosen controls of rare-earth magnets exports to the US.

"I am not aware of your source of information. Rare-earth magnets are mostly general import and export goods, so fluctuations in trade data are a normal market phenomenon," He noted.
