The world's first "back-to-back 1980" move completed by Su Yiming on October 7, 2025, was officially certified by the Guinness World Records, according to a post on the official Guinness World Records Sina Weibo account on Thursday. It confirms that he has set the Guinness World Record for "the most 1980-degree spins completed in a single run in snowboarding."
Previously, Su also held the Guinness World Record for being "the first athlete to complete an inward 1980 with a grab."
Su reposted the Guinness World Records statement on his Sina Weibo account, writing, "I hope to continue striving in the future, leading Chinese snowboarding to break more world records."
Su produced a world-first by landing back-to-back 1980-degree spins as confirmed in a social media video posted on October 9.
The sequence saw the Olympic champion execute a clean backside 1980 with a melon grab, immediately followed by another 1980 from his opposite stance with a tail grab.
This achievement marks another milestone for Su, who earlier this year successfully completed a 2160. As he builds toward the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics, Su continues to advance his technical prowess following his gold and silver medal performances at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
In early December, at Beijing's Shougang Big Air venue, Su claimed the men's snowboard big air title at the FIS World Cup with a total of 181.00 points.
"My focus remains on the Milan Winter Olympics. I hope to stay composed and achieve even better results there," he said, The Paper reported.
