A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Tuesday that the Japanese leader's erroneous remarks on the Taiwan question constitute a crude interference in China's internal affairs, seriously violate the one-China principle, and are extremely egregious in nature and impact, and China has decided to prohibit the export of all dual-use items to Japanese military end users, for military purposes, as well as to any other end users or end uses that would help enhance Japan's military capabilities.

The comments came in response to a question on the considerations behind the announcement, previously released by the MOFCOM, on tightening export controls on dual-use items to Japan.

"Japanese leader has recently made erroneous remarks on the Taiwan question, openly implying the possibility of military intervention across the Taiwan Straits. Such remarks constitute a blatant interference in China's internal affairs, seriously violate the one-China principle, and are extremely egregious in nature and impact," the MOFCOM spokesperson said in a statement.

To safeguard national security and interests and to fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation, and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, China has decided to prohibit the export of all dual-use items to Japanese military end users, for military purposes, as well as to any other end users or end uses that would help enhance Japan's military capabilities, the spokesperson said.

Any organization or individual from any country or region that violates the above provisions by transferring or providing relevant dual-use items originating in China to Japanese organizations or individuals will be held legally accountable in accordance with the law, the spokesperson added.
