Taiwan's defense authorities have recently been mired in sustained public controversy over multiple arms procurements. A spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council stated that, in order to seek "independence" through military means, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are wantonly squandering the hard-earned money of Taiwan residents to purchase foreign weapons, while taking the opportunity to amass wealth and engage in corruption.

Spokesperson Peng Qing'en expressed the hope that the broad community of Taiwan compatriots will see through the DPP authorities' sinister motives and ugly faces, and take practical actions to guard their own wallets, so as not to be deceived again.
