Asked to comment on the WTO panel ruling in the case of China against the US over the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said on Friday that the panel ruled that the US clean-energy subsidy measures at issue violate World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, rejected Washington's claim that the measures were on "public morals" grounds, and called on the US to withdraw the subsidies.
The spokesperson said China welcomes and appreciates the panel's objective and impartial ruling.
On January 30 local time in Geneva, the World Trade Organization released the panel ruling in China's dispute case against the US over the IRA.
The spokesperson said China has consistently been a firm defender of WTO rules and a steadfast supporter of the international economic and trade order. "China hopes the US will respect the panel's findings and WTO rules, promptly correct its wrongful practices, and take concrete actions to uphold the international economic and trade order and promote stable and orderly global trade," the spokesperson said.
