A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday that maintaining an open, inclusive, and universally beneficial international trade environment serves the common interests of all countries, and that all parties have the responsibility to play a constructive role in safeguarding the stability and security of global supply and industrial chains for critical minerals.
Lin Jian, a spokesperson of the ministry, made the remarks at the regular press briefing when asked for comments on reports that the US has unveiled plans for a preferential trade bloc of allies for critical minerals earlier in the day, with South Korea serving as the chair until June this year.
Lin said that China opposes any country undermining the international economic and trade order through "small-circle" rules.
