Asked by media for comment regarding the EU's announcement on Thursday, Geneva time, that it would request the WTO dispute settlement body to establish a panel in its dispute against China concerning judicial rulings related to standard essential patent licensing litigation, an official of the Department of Treaty and Law of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said that China will handle the matter properly in accordance with WTO dispute settlement procedures and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
China has repeatedly emphasized that it attaches great importance to intellectual property protection, and China has continuously improved its legislation and enforcement in strict accordance with WTO rules and its accession commitments, said the official, noting that the achievements are evident to all. In response to the EU's request, the official said that China regrets the EU's decision.
