Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said the Chinese side has repeatedly stated its principled position regarding the issue of US chip export to China, in response to a question over a senior US official's reported claims that Chinese AI startup DeepSeek's latest AI model was trained on Nvidia's most advanced AI chip, the Blackwell, in what could represent a violation of US export controls.

"I am not aware of the specific situation you mentioned. Regarding the issue of US chips exported to China, the Chinese side has repeatedly stated its principled position," Mao said.
