An exhibition
Traces of North was held at the brand-new office premises of the Consulate-General of Finland in Shanghai on March 23, 2026 to mark the Nordic Day, which celebrates the deep historical, cultural, and social connections between the Nordic countries. Representatives from the Consulates General of Sweden, Norway and Denmark attended the events among other guests.
The exhibition presents examples of how the Nordic Perspective has made its presence felt across the globe. These traces come in all shapes and sizes - feelings, concepts, mindsets, buildings, people and products. Anything that has made its way from the Nordic countries out into the world, made a difference, brought about changes, or affected people and/or places.
The aim of the exhibition was to give these traces the attention they deserve, expand people's horizons and spark their interest in the Nordic values, and enhance their impact on the world, according to the organizer.
In her speech, the Consul General of Finland in Shanghai Anu Vuori said that Nordic people have a deep appreciation for simplicity, balance, and connection with each other and the world.
She added that "what truly defines our region, however, is our close collaboration. Across Nordics, we work together based on trust, shared values, and a common vision for a sustainable and inclusive future." Over the years, this cooperation has grown into one of the world's most wide-ranging regional partnerships. "This spirit is also captured in our
Traces of North exhibition, which highlights how Nordic ideas and innovations - from Bluetooth technology to the Finnish Baby Box and the Svalbard Global Seed Vault - have made a positive impact far beyond our region," said the Consul General.
During the event, Wang Kaimei, director of the Wow Art Museum, delivered a short keynote speech from the perspective of arts and how Nordic arts contribute to the world.
